This was one of the very first retro-styled projects I ever did, and it had been languishing in my garage at home. I had an old 12v power supply sitting FOREVER in my garage and decided to try my hand at doing this “vintage” thing. I removed everything and started with the case, which I added jacks for 3 different power sources. Then to make it “look” old I designed a new face and cut the pieces on the Groove-O-Matic and did my paint treatment. Then it sat for two years under Volkswagen parts…
When I built the ultimate diorama a few months back I needed to power the LEDs so I had cobbled together a power supply from and old wall wart which did the job, for test purposes…Once I made a few upgrades to the diorama I decide the power supply also needed a makeover and I remembered the Ray-O-Vac! I gutted it again and added a new internal power supplies and while I was at it I added some soviet-era vacuum tubes to give it an even more retro vibe.
