Now the walls need some cool artwork… I’ve always loved the old school gas and car company signs from back in the day, but clearly they would not look right in this retro-futuristic environment… Unless of course I drag them into the 22nd century! The Gulf sign was an old chunk of plywood prepped and painted, and then I had to scratch my brain way back to the early 1980s when I went to commercial art school. No computers back then, lol. I had to relearn the old school art of sign painting! I practiced on my wonderful old metal shelving cabinet, which was a major score found at a second-hand store. I love that thing!

Anyway, with a little confidence I tackled the “Gulf Cybernetics” sign. Say what?!? To me, Retro-Futurism is just a magical place where you can combine all the cool old school design and aesthetics with modern technology. Not done yet! Now I needed to rebrand Volkswagen! In my mind, in about a hundred years they will have gotten into creating ‘spaceships for the people.’
