I needed a way to keep my most used hand tools at the ready without having them mounted somewhere away from my bench. The idea of being able to move it around to whatever part of the bench I’m at seems like a good idea. I started with a chunk of 4×4 and laid out where I want things to go and started drilling! That didn’t hold enough tools so I added the back section for chisels, and some dental tools and knives. Once the rough stuff was done it was time for details! Styrene cut on the Groove-O-Matic, and a bit of steel mesh, and we laid down some primer to see what it’s gonna look like. One of my favourite movies of all time is Alien, and I have always thought that no one really builds props for the things that happen on the lower decks, so my idea was to envision what Parker and Brett would have had on one of their benches. Then once the base painting was complete I had to make it look like it had been on a ship that had been “nuked from orbit, you know, just to be sure…”
